First Edition

The original HackShanghai

In 2014, 250 hackers were selected out of almost 1500 applications from top universities in China and around the globe. For 24 hours, they all worked together, in teams, to build products that accomplish their vision, and may change the future. From the human-computer interface that fully virtualized the entire process of cooking to the 'blimp' made of plastic bags, countless great ideas were born at HackShanghai. The efforts of the very best were rewarded with over 100,000 RMB worth of prizes, on top of the invaluable experience of connecting with CEOs and CTOs from the world-renowned companies who sponsored HackShanghai.

Mission Statement

HackShanghai aims to cross geographical and cultural boundaries and bring together a multitude of different innovators, each with their own view of the world we live in. With so many vastly different perspectives, we want to see how programming can display the very basics of what brings humans together and leave a positive mark on our rapidly advancing world.
